My background is non-linear: civil engineering, architecture, construction project management, then UX and product design, with an MS in Human-Computer Interaction from Iowa State.
I'm a hands-on builder, not a wireframe-only designer. I ship prototypes and front-end code myself through a Figma to Claude Code workflow.
My design philosophy leans Swiss and Bauhaus, somewhere between Apple and an academic journal. I think in systems, mental models, and cognitive load, and I believe designers should introduce deliberate friction and advocate for the actual user, not just automate.
